Thank god for two children. Without the kids I would be owing big time but ended up coming out even in the end. This is the first time for ever that we took the standard deduction ($24k) and didn’t itemize.
Another note is I have used H&R Block for quite a while for tax prep and they have nearly doubled their fees, so that’s a no go for us moving forward. I’ll grind it out on TurboTax from here on out.
Supposed to snow again tomorrow though Wednesday!

I used ButtAndHole Block for two years with hummm satisfactory results... Switched to TurboTax in 2014, way better, more thorough, no fees except the whole 50 or 100 bucks, painfully (that’s good!) exhaustive, and I do it on my own time.

Haven’t gotten them back yet... no idea where we stand. Kind of annoying. We had to pay last year, o ops. We made adjustments, but who knows?

Yeah we had a friend who worked there and they are pretty thorough but damn they got ‘spensive.

The $10k tax deduction cap has pissed me off big time.

There isn’t much incentive for charitable contributions either...

So tax deductions are the real reasons for having kids?
Time to find me a wife!

Did mine yesterday also. $100 for TurboTax seems steep but I like how it handles my wife’s clergy pay which is wacky and used to cause trouble. And yes doubled child tax credit FTW.
